ESTRELLA COCINA REVEAL PART 2

Happy Friday friends! Today we are taking you through the rooftop patio of Estrella, if you haven’t had a chance to look through the interior of the taqueria, click here.

Picking up right where we left off on Part 1, the retractable windows along the perimeter of the indoor space open to the patio to allow for a connected, indoor/outdoor feel year-round.

We used bright yellows and teals throughout the rooftop for a more playful, modern look. The five-feet tall specialty nighttime lighting displays further enhance the Baja vibe. The best feature of the rooftop is the view.

The client wanted to create a lounge feel around the rooftop without the care and maintenance of cushions, we selected these stackable pieces made of polypropylene in order to meet their design and function goals. The rattan swivel stools and composite stone molded table added great textured to the geometric sofas.

And last but not least, if you haven’t had a chance to see the taqueria at night, we highly recommend you add it to your calendar. The five-feet tall specialty nighttime lighting displays further enhance the Baja vibe. The best feature of the rooftop is this view.

ESTRELLA COCINA REVEAL PART 1

And we’re back with a brand new project to share with you all! Downtown Jacksonville is currently undergoing a major transition that is revitalizing the neighborhood and bringing more attraction to the surrounding city. We are so lucky so to have been involved in not one but two of the newest restaurants coming to the area and they happen to be located within the same building.

Today, we are sharing with you interior of Estrella Cocina, a specialty restaurant that was inspired by a combination of the client’s passion for fresh, locally sourced food and early roots in Southern California. This project is located on the rooftop of the VyStar Credit Union campus in downtown Jacksonville and overlooks the St. Johns River. The taqueria is a creative partnership between The Bread & Board owners and VyStar Credit Union and is the sister concept to the original restaurant, which is located on the first floor of the building.

We wanted to make sure that VyStar’s branding was incorporated in the space and our client’s vision for a California light, bright aesthetic. We accomplished this by incorporating this soft blue ceramic tile with a rusty orange effect to bring out the baja feel while allowing the VyStar blue logo to pop.

We used the same blue hues on the custom banquettes and brought in some warmth with the rattan chandeliers and dining chairs. We added these muted, yellow surfboards and succulents in vibrant blue containers to really emphasize the SoCal vibe. These details bring a beachy, airy, yet modern Baja feel to the space.
