IN THE DETAILS: CLAY THEATRE BAR

This week we’re excited to announce the Grand Opening of a project we have been gushing over for almost a full year now: The Clay Theatre Event Venue. Last week our lovely clients Dan & Andrea Vallencourt hosted an exclusive party for all of the family, friends and design teams that have helped make their dreams come true over the past year. We are so lucky to be apart of such an amazing team including the extremely hard work of Carlton Construction and Basham & Lucas Design Group. We are having our interiors photoshoot at the venue later this week but wanted to share a small teaser until then!

THE PROCESS

Here at Micamy Design Studio, we are all about providing details to the client and the construction team. Not only to show how something is going to work functionally, but also to show how it is going to look aesthetically. While designing the cocktail bar at Clay Theatre we knew it had to set the mood for the event space because it is one of the first things you see when entering the lobby.

We begin our process by going through our studio’s material library to see what we like, what we haven't used and what’s new. At Clay Theatre we started with an accent tile that had just been shown to us by our rep at Crossville Studios. We knew this was the look we wanted and were confident our client would agree! From there, we selected a simpler tile to mix into the design to accentuate the face of the bar and not overwhelm the guests. Finally, to add contrast we selected a beautiful black Cambria quartz for the countertops.

THE DESIGN

Once we selected these statement tiles for the face of the bar, we agreed it was time to start the drawing process to see what pattern and arrangement would look best. After a few different attempts, we were moving forward with a pattern that was both unique and attractive. Throughout the elevation and detail design we knew we were going to need brackets for a support and a footrail to help preserve our hard work as well as the longevity of the tile.

We worked alongside Basham & Lucas’s Art Director, Ashley, to help her model the interior of the 3D animation she produced for the clients. She did an absolutely phenomenal job portraying our visual interpretation as you can see below.

THE RESULT

If you do not follow Clay Theatre’s Instagram, we highly recommend you do. The clients have documented every part of the design process from start to finish and it is truly amazing to see the finished product. We are so very excited to share with you the entire reveal in the upcoming weeks, but for now you’ll have to stay tuned into our Instagram Stories to see more of the event venue!
